4 things I realized after reading this book in 4 hours

Waking up early on a Saturday is  one of the greatest struggle i have ever since I was little. Since yesterday that I knew I have an event to attend to, upon hearing the alarm I automatically stood up and fixed my bed. Though a part of me still wants to lay down and hit the snooze button.

I attended a book signing of a friend/mentor who I look up to, and whom I respect.

To be honest, I was just dragged by my office mate (hi Jhoanna!) who had an extra ticket. But before hand, I only had a gist of what it was about but not knowing that the event will shot me right to the center of my heart.

The book is “Don’t Let Them Lose You” by Didoy Lubaton, M.D.

Let me ask you some questions, when was the last time you listen to yourself? When was the last time you thought of being more cautious of what you eat? When was the last time you had atleast 8 hours of rest and sleep? And how about the lifestyle you are taking, are you satisfied about it?

By now, I guess you have wild ideas about this book.

As many of you know, I lost the two most important people in my life. My mom and dad. Which I admit, until now I haven’t fully moved on. As Doc Didoy started his talk, I tremendously hold off my tears. I felt the same pain as he narrated the same story of how he lost his dad that led him to his profession and the same reason why he wrote this book.

4 things I realized after reading this book in 4 hours:

1. Learn to listen to yourself, your body.

Your body is the precious gift that God has given you. Learn to listen to yourself, to your heart. If you are tired and exhausted, please take the luxury of time to rest and recover. If you are feeling out of the mood, please try to lighten the atmosphere and be at ease. Let the burden be light. Let yourself  breathe from inhaling too much negativity around you. More importantly do not abuse what you have. It is all about balance, learn to be whole and  positive about life.

2. Let go and release.

As I’ve mentioned before, I haven’t fully recovered from what has happened to me, I must admit that a part of me still feels the depression and sadness that has brought in me because of the tragic incident I experienced. But day by day I try to release the pain, the anger and the heartache. Until I’ve read this book and thought me more how to exhale the desolation. And thus the more I keep it and supress it in me, the more I will become ill. Keep in mind that toxic emotions are needed to be released as it is the poision that can kill you.

3. Live intentionally and spread the love.

Everyday I note to myself that I need to wake up and set a goal for me and my family and it helps me keep going with lif that I even strive for more. I need to take note that every waking day is another change for me, you,  and all of us to regenerate your dreams and goals. Once you’ve set the goal, do it with love and absorb the positive energy. Let me tell you that you must do the things that it is important to you. Do more of what you love as it will make you more fulfilled and whole as a person. You are the driver of your own self, so speed up smoothly so you can reach your captivating destination.

4. Pause, then surrender.

In this millenial world, everything is in fast paced rhythm. we tend move faster because of the things we need to accomplish. But to tell tou frankly, this is unhealthy. Let me ask you, when was the last time you chew and enjoyed eating without any gadget beside you? When was the las time you had a great sleep, roughly 8-10 hours? Give yourelf a break. take a pause, live in the present. Do not rush to get in the future. Have a well spent time for yourself and endure the best of this life. Then surrender everything to God, because things are sometimes out of our control. So, let Him take over you and surrender everything to Him. He has a plan for you, you just need to learn and trust.

Let the book be your guide and try if it can help you as well.

Plus, you may catch him every Sunday at The Feast Bay Area 11:30 AM as he preach and spread the good word of God.

Truly, one of the best books I’ve read. Inspiring and realistic.

Never did I regret waking up early yesterday because I learned a lot. I need to take care of my self so I can take care of my family and this is just the start of entering the whole

NEW ME.

See you soon,

G.

  1. Loved reading this. As someone who lost a parent, I know that the pain never goes away. I only learnt, with time, how to live my life purposefully and spread love. Glad that this book helped you.
Another book that changed my life a little bit is “Forty Rules of Love” by Elif Shafak.
